A Poem by Shirley Proctor: Thank You for My Party
I decided to write a Thank you Poem
Instead of sending a card
Because I’m finding at this age
Writing is getting quite hard!
So I wrote this poem to thank you all
For helping me celebrate Boy we sure had a ball!
What a surprise when I opened the door
It’s a wonder I didn’t fall down on the floor
But I soon recovered and came on in
And I said OK let the party begin
I was dressed in green for St. Patty’s Day
So you could tell I was ready to play
Everyone loved the Irish jig
And the cate meow song too
Just a usual I never know
What it is that I might do!
The games were fun and the food was great
What a wonderful way to celebrate
I was glad to see so many friends
And my daughters and granddaughter too
What a blessing you all are to me
Without you what would I do?
The love you showed in your cards and gifts
Was so overwhelming to me
I privately cried when I read them at home
When no one else could see
And I also Thank You God for this party
It showed the love that people can share
And also, it reminds us
We are to spread Gods Love Everywhere.
